Thanks for visiting! If you are following the Cross Blog Conversation I’m having with my friend Alyssa Avant, you’ll know that this is the second part to our CBC conversation (see original question here)
Here’s Alyssa’s next question to me:
Now, I have to ask you another question, I want to know more about your background so tell me Regina, “How did you get started in your online business? ”
Hey Alyssa,
I was actually working in Corporate America at the time. My Manager walked in my office and said, “Do you know how to create a web site?” My immediate answer was, “No” but give me until the end of the week and I’ll have one ready for you.
The rest as they say is history
At that point I got online. I don’t remember how I knew to go to Yahoo!.com but I did. I was fascinated at the way things looked. I knew that I could search to find the answers I wanted so that’s what I did. I played around viewing websites, joining discussion groups (which were much more focused forums at that time then now) asked questions, downloaded a copy of HotDog Web Editor and went to work.
My background is computers and IT, so this wasn’t a challenge for me because I love it. At the end of the week, I had a website for our department ready! Mind you it wasn’t the type of website you see these days, it was all text, no graphics, no scripts and wordpress was no where to be found, LOL! However, it served the purpose.
That then gave me the idea that I could do whatever I wanted too! At the time (over 10 years ago) I was selling Tupperware and decided to build my own Tupperware website. I encourage you to read the story of my Tupperware days as I was interviewed by the New York Times in February 1998 it explains exactly what I did when I first got online.
From there God inspired me to open up the Christian Business Community. It’s been interesting to say the least but a journey I have humbly welcomed even with the trials and tribulations.
After buying just about every how to information package online, networking and building relationships, reading and definitely praying, joining the Mastermind Group (since 2004) and just recently Terry Dean’s coaching, this focus is definitely worth all the years I’ve spent here “building my business(es).”
I’ll have to say that after all these years, it doesn’t matter how you get started, it’s how you finish that makes the difference
Now Alyssa, I have another question for you!
Have you ever had moments where you just wanted to throw in the towel and forget this online business stuff? If so, who or what kept you from making the decision to hang it all up and why?

Hi Regina,
It’s always so interesting to learn about a person’s journey through life, especially how they connected with world of Internet marketing and their path in that peculiar and exciting “culture.”
Learning the principles of and best strategies for marketing and networking online are very helpful, but getting a sense of a “real person” and their very personal struggles and achievements adds texture and interest.
My Internet marketing journey has had more twists and turns than I ever imagined it would or could.
One of the biggest shifts for me was choosing to help and serve people who had very little in the way of income to invest in building an Internet-based home business and sharing the not very well known information I had discovered about how to make money online without spending any, as well as how to make money online with legitimate, user-friendly low cost programs.
This led to my founding of the Life More Abundant Club http://www.lifemoreabundantclub.com/ early this year. The name of the Club is taken from John 10:10: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
I deliberately chose to emphasize a religious, Christian perspective in both the Club’s name and philosophy. I have two co-administrators; Pastor Leo Chaput, a Pentecostal-Holiness pastor and Rev Carolyn McTush, who is specialized in music and prosperity ministries.
It felt kind of scary to go public with a home business Club for faith-based entrepreneurs, mostly because I didn’t realize that there was already a Christian Business Community “out there.”
Connecting with you and your activities and ministries helped to connect me with the Christian Business Community. I am so grateful for your “bringing me into the fold” and helping me to discover so many wonderful people and resources in the Christian Business Community.
Abundant Blessings,
Cynthia
