That statement couldn’t be farther from the truth. For some reason people have the idea that if they put a website up that visitors will pour in from all around. That only happens IF and when you invite others to come to your website.
Starting a Ezine / Newsletter
Last night was the last leg of Ali Brown’s teleseminar on Ezine Marketing Secrets for 2008. Of course I was on that call and again, it was awesome. The best part about the teleseminar was she interviewed several of her clients who took her course and have seen phenomenal results. A couple of them talked about how they started their newsletters with less than 10 subscribers! As Ali says and I quote, “it’s not the quantity, it’s the quality” of people who are subscribed that makes the difference.
So what do I mean by that? Well you can have a list of over 1,000 people but maybe less than 10% respond or even read your emails! It doesn’t matter who didn’t, what matters is, who did. The idea here is to continue to promote to grab the “quality” subscribers who appreciate what you have to offer and trust your recommendations and the only way to do that is to sift and sort.
Remember early in the week I asked you to take a survey? Well out of all the subscribed members, less than 10% responded. Some people would be disappointed with that but I wasn’t. I focused on those who have taken the survey, their needs and what they want to know about, this is exactly why we’re talking about ezines/newsletters.
Here’s one tip that I didn’t mention the other day and that is:
- Asking your subscribers what they want to know about (concerning your target market.)
Where Will I Get Content?
Ali said one of the pressing questions asked about ezines is people want to know where will they get the content. I suggest that when you take the step mentioned above, this will help establish where your content comes from. You can place a survey on your website and/or ask your newly subscribed friends to take the survey in your “thank you message.”
Write articles too! Get your name out there, let people know who you are and what you do. Submit your articles to ezine directories and negotiate ezine swaps.
For the creme de’la creme to ezine/newsletter tips – list building and NO ONE in my opinion teaches this better than Jimmy D. Brown of ListsAndTraffic.com
If you find that there are not enough hours in the day to create your newsletter with all the bells and whistles, consider Outsourcing the project to a Virtual Assistant.
I encourage you start your ezine whether it be through a service like Constant Contact, Aweber or RSS feeds — whatever you choose to utilize, do it! FOCUS while applying the suggestions and test for results.
For a complete method, step by step of teaching you exactly how to Boost Your Business with Your Own Ezine, I recommend Ali’s step by step system here.
Until next time…
